About
The unmissable event for ballroom dancing enthusiasts! Jean-Pascal is the voice and the decks behind the bals de Montrouge. A dance teacher for nearly 40 years and a DJ specialising in rock, he gets every generation dancing. Every month, he sets up his turntables at Le Beffroi, and very quickly, the room gets moving. The dance floor fills up, smiles appear, and the hip-swaying gets into full swing. Rock and dancing have been his life since childhood. Not a hobby, not a way to top up his income, but a true calling. “I teach classes every evening of the week, in various associations in and around Paris. And alongside that, I became a DJ, specialising in rock, but not only.” It's true: when he's not dancing, Jean-Pascal gets others dancing. And his playlist is a journey. From swing to rock 'n' roll, Latin to disco, the genres blend seamlessly and the dancers follow along without always knowing why. “It’s very diverse, but people don’t necessarily realise it. You discover it once you dive in!” And often, the surprise is real: people think they don't like modern rock, until they find themselves spinning across the floor. What does he see from his stage? That the dances are always packed. “I have never noticed a drop in attendance, and the crowd is constantly renewed. People want to meet, let off steam, and will always need to dance to music they love.” At Le Beffroi, the dance offers two rooms, two vibes. Éric Eliott hosts ballroom dances—paso doble, Viennese waltz, cha-cha, rumba. Jean-Pascal, for his part, takes charge of the rock, Latin and disco side. “There are a lot of single people having a blast to disco,” he adds with a wink. That's one of the things he loves about this job: seeing people open up, unwind, and get to know each other. So for anyone still hesitating, Jean-Pascal has a message. “There’s something for everyone. Don’t hesitate to come and join us.” Shall we dance?
