About
All audiences.
Walid Ben Selim pays tribute to Sufi poetry and sings of love, peace, and freedom. A French-Moroccan singer, instrumentalist, composer, and poet born in Casablanca, he has traversed styles and continents: rap, electro, jazz, performing on stages from Fez to São Paulo. For years, he has set the verses of Ibn Arabi, Rumi, and Mahmoud Darwich to music, giving them a new resonance. His album Here and Now, awarded the 2023 Fondation Orange Music Prize, was notably broadcast on Arte Concert. On stage, he is accompanied by Marie-Marguerite Cano, a virtuoso harpist who regularly performs with renowned chamber music ensembles. The delicacy of her harp engages in a dialogue with Walid Ben Selim's deep voice. Two worlds meet and ultimately become one. As he puts it simply: music transcends differences and has only one purpose, to enchant.
