Close your eyes. A voice rises, warm and deep. An oud accompanies it. This instrument, a cousin of the guitar with a round, enveloping sound, is the soul of Arabic music. A violin weaves in. Percussion sets the rhythm. In just a few seconds, you are no longer in Montrouge.

Samarah is a trio of female musicians exploring the musical shores of the Mediterranean. From Egypt to Lebanon, from Tunisia to Spain, their repertoire crosses cultures with natural fluidity. Traditional Arabic songs, hints of flamenco, oriental melodies… A guaranteed change of scene.

Behind the project are three artists with extensive careers. Soraya Sehili, singer and oud player, studied oriental music in Tunisia before performing in Paris for years. Françoise Ruscher, a violinist trained at the conservatoires of Paris, collaborates with the Théâtre du Soleil and has recently been exploring world music. Lucie Louvrier, percussionist and mezzo-soprano operatic singer, studied classical singing in England before immersing herself in oriental percussion. Together, they form a trio as close-knit as it is spellbinding.
